About the Day

A day to remember, connect, and stand together.

Scotty B Overdose Awareness Day is a community-centered gathering created to honor lives lost to overdose, hold space for grief, uplift the people still with us, and strengthen a more compassionate response to overdose in our community.

Held in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, this event reflects a belief that people deserve dignity, care, connection, and practical support, and that communities are stronger when we choose compassion over stigma and shame.

As Scotty B Overdose Awareness Day enters its 11th year, this year’s gathering will take place on North Clinton in 14621 and will bring together neighbors, loved ones, people with lived and living experience, people in recovery, people who use drugs, service providers, advocates, and community members from across Rochester and Monroe County.

Why this matters here

Across Rochester and Monroe County, overdose, substance use, grief, trauma, mental health challenges, and housing instability touch families, neighborhoods, and communities every day.

This day is about remembering the people we have lost, supporting the people still here, and bringing people together around compassion, connection, and responses that truly help.

Our Approach

Rooted in harm reduction, dignity, and no-barrier care.

Recovery All Ways is a no-barrier, community-care organization. We believe people deserve care, respect, and support exactly where they are. Harm reduction means reducing risk, preventing death, strengthening connection, and making room for health and healing without shame.

That is the spirit we bring to this event: remembrance and prevention together, community voice at the center, and a commitment to responding to overdose with compassion, practical action, and love for our people.
